About Crowdfunding and FAQ

What is crowdfunding?

Crowdfunding is the practice of funding a project or campaign by raising contributions from a large number of people, typically through internet based mediums.

LSU is using crowdfunding to share the project goals of LSU students to build awareness with the community and to solicit support. The power of social media and other digital communication mediums allows the campaign message to reach more potential supporters than traditional fundraising measures.

How does crowdfunding at LSU work?

Currently, LSU Seniors are featuring their senior class campaign on the platform. If you would like to support this year’s senior class, help make it happen by making a donation! Any amount is welcome, and anyone can contribute!

Throughout the fundraising period, funds are collected and added up – you can visit the project page to check in on the progress at any time. You will also receive updates directly for any project that you’ve funded. At the end of the fundraising period, the campaign closes and all the contributions from the community are totaled and awarded to the project. Expect a final project update from the team and an outpouring of gratitude because you (and a whole lot of other people) just made a huge difference at LSU. Thank you!

How else can I help?

You can also support the campaign by sharing the LSU campaign page with your network. Sharing LSU crowdfunding projects with your friends helps spread the word about your favorite projects! Each campaign can be easily shared on social media using the simple tools on each campaign’s page. Help us share your favorite projects with more potential supporters!

Which methods of payment are accepted?

The preferred LSU payment method is credit card (Visa, MasterCard and American Express). Payment by check can also be accepted. Please clearly note which crowdfunding project the check is intended for. All checks should be made out to and mailed to:

When is my credit card charged?

How is my contact information used?

Your contact information is only used to process your credit card payment. When you make a gift, the only personal information provided to project managers is first name, last name, email address and gift amount.

Is my gift tax deductible?

Yes, all gifts are made to the LSU Foundation, a 501(c)(3) organization. A tax-deductible receipt will be provided for the amount of your gift.
